While briefing the press today November 28th 2021, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service reiterated that an inoculation exercise is the best way to tackle the virus.
Surveillance measures will be increased at the country’s entry points especially the Kotoka International Airport according to Dr. Aboagye, as we inch towards the Christmas festivities to put the infection rate under control.
He has also assured that last year’s festivities mistakes that increased the infection rate will not repeat themselves this year as they have learnt their lessons.
Dr.Aboagye indicated that there is going to be “strict enforcement of the protocols at the KIA. We are going to increase surveillance. We are expecting [an] increased number of people to arrive in the country.
“We are going to ensure that our logistics are prepared, we will continue our surveillance to be able to look at that, we are going to look at isolation centres,” while adding that “Our contact tracing will be strengthened.
“We are going to engage with religious organizations to ensure that activities done in Christmas are in accordance with Covid protocols,” he noted.
