Ghanaian investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has said that Ghana is yet to have a leader after Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Mr. Awuni who is the Editor-in-Chief of the Fourth Estate, a nonprofit investigative online media network established by the Media Foundation for West Africa argued that “As we sit here, we have a president. We don’t have a leader”.

Comparing the current Dampare-led Police administration to the leadership at the seat of government, Mr. Awuni argued that the integrity of the Ghana Police has soared since Dr. Dampare took over the helms of affairs such that “enforcement of the law has not been limited to the lowly but politicians and Members of Parliament as well”.

“The [Ghana] Police Service was one institution that people didn’t believe in but Dr Dampare has changed the narrative”.
“Report a case and the next minute you are arrested. That kind of leadership gives Ghana hope.”, he stressed.

He stated, that the Dampare leadership type and style is what would have been good for Ghana and needed at the Jubilee House.

Contributing to TV3’s 2021 review show on Saturday, January 8, 2022, Manasseh also commended the social media movement, #FixTheCountry, acknowledging that “the social media campaign shook the very foundation of the top guns in government to the extent that the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, unusually held a press conference on a Sunday to address concerns raised by the youth”.

Mr. Awuni, however, bemoaned the murder of one of the #FixTheCountry activists, Macho Kaaka, in Ejura and the “questionable” arrest of his brother by the Police for the incident.
