GHAFTRAM to streamline the referral process of the sick
As Africans, we cannot deny the power and efficacy of our herbs and Traditional medicines in being able to cure the sick.
That is why the Ghana Federation of Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association(GHAFTRAM) has decided to streamline and regulate the process of referral of the sick especially those suffering from mental health issues in their facilities.
Dr Anastasia Yirenkyi, the Director, Traditional & Alternative Medicine Directorate at the Ministry of Health was of the view that, though more often than not the efforts of traditional medicine producers are not fully recognized they are the first point of call especially when it comes to mental illness and its related issues hence the call for regulation of such process.
This call, GHAFTRAM said would help their members develop the capacity to properly handle sick people and not to abuse their rights.
GHAFTRAM believes the process will also help people believe and have confidence in their healing prowess when they bring their sick to their various facilities.
The federation has been battling such issues mostly when it comes to their medicines and healing process since the use of orthodox medicines in this modern-day world has caught up with Ghana as well.
