GES Apologizes To Parents Over Reopening Date Postponement
The Ghana Education Service through its Public Relations Officer Cassandra Twum Ampofo has rendered an unqualified apology to parents and other stakeholders in the education sector following yesterday’s reopening postponement.
Parents and their wards in Senior High School Form 3 were met with the news of the sudden rescheduling the reopening date to 5th May. This caused rage as a lot of parents expressed concerns about the inconvenience to parents who had already brought their wards to school for studies. The late communication of the postponement of the initial reopening date was considered disrespectful as many stakeholders denied ever been consulted about the issue.
Students who have journeyed from far places will be made to sleep and then go back home the next day. That was how bad the communication timing was.
Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools, CHASS said they were not adequately prepared to receive the final year students back to school. That was what necessitated the postponement. The decision to heed to the CHASS advice rather came late and has already stirred the anger of parents and other stakeholders.
PRO for the GES admitted they had caused a lot of inconvenience to students, teachers and their parents and promised. She assured that they will not lose more contact and instructional hours for learning as they prepare for their WASSCE.
Management of the Service thus sincerely apologize to all for the late communication.
