Precious Kweku Senafiawo - Nkosuohene of Ga-Odumase

On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the Palace of the Chief of Ga-Odumase, a young man made history. They say when a child knows how to wash his hands well he eats with the elders and that was a reality when the crowd massed up at the Palace despite it drizzling intermittently.

It was still the Homowo festive season and many may still have been in the Homowo mood but on that fateful day was a special effect and addition to the norm.

A chief was being enstooled. The Nkosuohene of Ga-Odumase. The Development Chief of Ga-Odumase. He was recognized by the community for his relentless efforts, passion, and dedication toward the advancement of the community. It was a round of applause from the community for the young man who started his journey toward community empowerment by identifying a need to provide quality education in the community. Having established Pure City International School nearly a decade ago, the school now serves as a hub for nurturing talent, a pride of the community. He has gone beyond the limits with his Sena Foundation and his media entity, Active TV and Radio Network has positioned the community ahead of its peers.

From constructing and rehabilitating roads to undertaking social outreach programmes to organizing educational programmes and embarking on numerous donations to several entities in the community, he has run the race to deserve the centre role on the podium.

We bring to you the full speech delivered by the Nkosuohene of the Ga-Odumase area at his enstoolment ceremony.

SPEECH DELIVERED BY PRECIOUS KWEKU SENAFIAWO ON THE OCASSION OF HIS ENSTOOLMENT AS THE NKOSUOHENE OF GA ODUMASE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL ON SATURDAY, 27TH AUGUST, 2022 AT THE GA ODUMASE CHIEF’S PALACE

Ga Odumase dwabɔɔ sɛinɔtalɔ, Nii Achia Susuafaso mɔ klɛŋklɛŋ, Niimɛi, Naamɛi kɛ onukpai ni fata Ga Odumase dwabɔɔ lɛ he kɛ mɛi fɛɛ ni ebua amɛhe naa yɛ biɛ; miiba nyɛ deŋ omanye. Eŋɔɔ minaa akɛ afee nɛkɛ woo nɛɛ aha mi ŋmɛnɛ. Miida Nyɔŋmɔ Ofe lɛ shi kɛ ha ŋmɛnɛ. Miiya nɔ mada Odumase maŋbii fɛɛ ashi akɛ amɛkpɛlɛ nɔ akɛ awɔ mi nɔyaa maŋtsɛ.

On this wonderful day, I stand with the rest of the Odumase in honoring and praising the dedication that the Chiefs and good people have displayed through their efforts in promoting peace, human rights, tolerance, and understanding—values that are crucial to our continued existence as a people. Today, we commemorate the energetic spirit of young people in our most esteemed community and our ability to improve the future of humanity.

Whether it’s on issues of human rights, technology, climate change, or healthcare, young people are frequently the voices leading the charge for societies to progress and better. Young people see a world of limitless possibility and are not waiting to take action to do what is right, as evidenced by the activist in Odumase fighting for employment, the human rights defender in Abeiman defending the fundamental freedoms of all Ghanaians to speech, assembly, and association, and the young entrepreneur in Nsakena manufacturing low-cost goods.

I have taken substantial and audacious initiatives over the years to unlock the immense potential of our young people. Particularly this year, I have made an effort to pay attention to what the kids have to say, and I am actively putting the priorities our youngsters have stressed into action. These include an “emphasis on youth employment and entrepreneurship, my Sena Foundation, “focuses on enhancing the voice of young people in education,” and an examination of the systems that foster and nurture talent in sports and entertainment.

Since 2012, when our resolution to implement the Youth Program was founded, my foundation and good caucuses have accomplished a lot. Although we are a young community, we have more varied information and ideas that can assist to improve Odumase and make it a beacon of hope in the capital of our beloved country. We can and will do much more in conjunction with our Chiefs and young people. In fact, we can!

As the Nkosuohene of the Ga-Odumase Traditional Council, I will be even more dedicated to giving young people opportunities and making sure they are not only the change-makers of the future but also of today. We are investing in the potential of the next generation by making sure that boys and girls have equal access to education, developing skills to strengthen youth leadership in civil society, business, and academia, or giving a young entrepreneur the money and connections they need to expand their start-up. We will create and put into action the Young Leaders Initiatives, which will bring together up to 500 young people to share knowledge and make a difference in our beloved community.

I therefore urge the government, the private sector, and civil society organizations to continue prioritizing youth development and empowerment; continuing to build bridges that close the generational gap; continuing to mainstream youth in all spheres of society; continuing to concentrate on ways to address youth unemployment; continuing to invest in youth; and letting the benefits of the international year of youth be felt.

My advice to the young people is straightforward: if you want the world to change, start by changing yourself. The world today may be in desperate need of young people who are ready to get involved, commit, give back, and support initiatives that will improve Ga-Odumase and the rest of the globe. This is an individual and personal call to live and work with purpose.

Niimɛi kɛ Naamɛi, I stand ready to work with and support you as part of the legacy of the Youth Development Project. Let your voices be heard and together we will make Ga-Odumase great.

May the good Lord and our ancestors bless Ga-Odumase, the Greater Accra Region and our Homeland Ghana and make her great and strong. I thank you all for your attention. Twa Twa omanye aba…….
