FDA approves two new Covid-19 vaccines for use in Ghana
Two more Covid-19 vaccines have been approved for use by Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority in the fight against Covid-19 in the country.
A statement issued by the FDA said it has approved the importation and distribution and use of Moderna (Spikevax) and Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty). The approval brings the total number of approved Covid-19 vaccines for use in Ghana to five.
The approved vaccines are Sputnik V, Covishield, Covid-19 Vaccine Jassen and the new additions; Moderna (Spikevax) and Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty).
Ghanaians are assured by the Food and Drugs Authority that all the approved Covid-19 vaccines have been subjected to rigorous safety parameters and urged all to receive the vaccines without any reservations.
“The FDA remains committed to safeguarding the health and safety of the public as mandated by the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851),” the statement added.
