A leading member of the Minority Caucus in Parliament and Member of Parliament (MP) for Yapei/Kasawgu, Mr. John Jinapor has disclosed the reason behind the absence of three Minority Members of Parliament.
According to him, currently, one of their members is battling for his life as he has been infected with COVID-19.
Also, one Mr Kpodo Member of Parliament for Ho Central could not make it to Parliament because he is burrying his father who he has lost whiles the last Member of Parliament could not make it on time to Parliament for the voting process.
Ghana’s Parliament on March 19, 2021 approved the 2021 budget for the country; approval which has shocked many considering the public outcry against the government’s intention to introduce some taxes which are inconveniencing to the people of Ghana.
After the day’s voting, the majority side of Parliament has 137 votes whiles the Minority only polled 134 of the votes.
Members of the Minority in Parliament have indicated that although they were against a number of items in the budget, they had no power to reject it considering the fact that they do not have the needed numbers in Parliament.
