Eastern Region: Chainsaw operator shot dead in the forest
Armed robbers used the gun to robbery the money
A chainsaw operator has been allegedly murdered by some assailants at Amenam, a community in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.
According to family members, gunshots wounds were found in the body of the deceased, Daniel Owusu. They believe this was done by officials from the Forestry Inspection team
According to the bereaved family, the incident occurred while Daniel was out in the forest felling trees.
The District Police Commander, DSP Peter Ofori Donkor indicated that upon receiving a distress call, a team of Policemen were dispatched to the scene where the body was retrieved. He added that the body has since been deposited at Abirem Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
Meanwhile, he said they have opened investigations to ascertain the cause of the death. and the perpetrators are yet to be identified.
