Mr Amoah Solomon, the Parents Teachers Association chairman of the New Mangoase Presbyterian JHS is appealing for assistance to save the school from impending disaster. Located in the Akuapem North District of the Eastern Region, the school has become a disaster in waiting.

The current situation of the school building is posing a serious danger to staff and students of the school, eliciting fear and panic among them. This has led to the PTA Chairman sending out a distress call to the government and benevolent organizations and individuals to help reconstruct the school to avoid any possible disaster in the near future.

According to him, the school block was constructed over 100 years ago by the government and has since not received any attention by way of rehabilitation. The walls have become weak and developed cracks all over, making them hang on dangerously to the frames that hold them together. They are almost on the verge of collapse and now largely serve as a deathtrap to the users of the facility.

Speaking to Kofi Michel of Accra FM, the PTA Chairman, Mr Amoah Solomon said several appeals have been made to the district assembly, philanthropic bodies, and civil organizations for assistance but no positive feedback has been received as of yet.

He added that the Kindergarten building has also been abandoned for years, even as far back as 2012 and no attention has been given to it by the relevant authorities. He, therefore, appeal to the authorities to come to their aid.

Some of the students also complained bitterly to the media that their lives are in danger due to the deplorable nature of the building. They added that they have no urinal nor toilet facility in the school, and this has become a very huge challenge to them too aside from the classroom building.

They are passionately appealing to the government, the Member of Parliament, Hon Ama Dokua and the District Chief Executive of the Akuapem North District to come to their rescue.
