Workers to embark on demonstration to demand better than 4 per cent increment salaries

Some public sector workers who are not enthused about government 4 per cent salary increment for public sector workers have threatened to hit the streets.

The disgruntled public sector workers want salaries to be increased by 25 per cent instead of 4 per cent.

Norbert Gborgbortsi who is the leader for the angry workers bemoans the fact that “there is no equity and fairness in the recent salary increment. How can others receive a 79 per cent increase and we the taxpayers will only see a 4 per cent surge?”

The group of over 30,000 members will hit the streets on Wednesday, August 18 if nothing is done to change the 4 per cent to at least 25 per cent.

Mr Gborgbortsi further said “we have already petitioned Parliament, nothing new has come up. So, we have notified the Police about our intention to hit the streets so every arrangement is in line so government must expect our demonstration because with all the additional tax introduced this year only 4 per cent has been added to our salaries. It’s nothing good to write home about”.

He further urged all public sector workers to join and fight for what is due to them.
