Deadly accident claims 9 UEW students lives in the Eastern Region
Nine persons, reported to be the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) students, died in an accident near Asuboi in the Eastern Region on Sunday morning March 13, 2022.
Reports suggest that a Hyundai universe commercial bus with the registration number AK 324-22 collided with a 40-footer container laden with wood leading to the accident.
The bus was allegedly bringing students from Sunyani to Accra, but when it arrived at a part of the Asuboi route, the driver failed to notice traffic ahead and was found taking a nap.
He then collided with the 40-footer container full of woods that had fallen partially on the road as a result of a previous accident that occurred at that dawn.
Eight passengers died immediately, and one died later at the Suhum Government Hospital, where the injured were transferred.
