Court to give a ruling on Oliver Barker-Vormawor bail hearing today
The ruling on the bail application by the lawyers of the lead convener of the #FixTheCountry movement, Oliver Barker Vormawor is expected to be heard today 16th March 2022 by the Tema High Court.
The activist is currently standing trial for threatening to overthrow constitutional organs of government, an accusation he has since debunked stating that he is ready to stand trial.
The police apprehended him on Friday 11 2022 over claims that the government would be deposed if they went ahead to pass the controversial E-levy.
Mr Barker-Vormawor on the other hand in his application for bail, contested the claims, saying a charge of treason felony against him cannot be sustained by the evidence available.
However, the Attorney-General in an affidavit to oppose the bail, indicated that evidence uncovered so far corroborates a charge of treason felony against the activist.
Mr Barker-Vormawor could not fathom why the republic has not charged him or taken a statement from him on the charge.
Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor revealed to the Court presided over by Justice Daniel Mensah that he is in good health and hopes they take him to trial.
That was after the judge inquired about his health status after he had been taken to the Police Hospital for medical care.
