Court orders teacher who sodomized 18 pupils to undergo psychiatric assessment
The teacher at the Centre of the Sodomy case has been in court for some months now and has been ordered to proceed to the Pantang Hospital to undergo psychiatric assessment as instructed by the Tamale Circuit Court that is currently handling the case.
Mr. Nantomah Abel Otabel who is a Social Studies teacher at the Kulpi RC Junior High School in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savanah Region was apprehended by the Police in September for allegedly sodomizing 18 pupils in the school.
After some days in the cells whiles investigations were ongoing he was later granted bail by the court presided over by His Lordship Justice Alexander Oware after his lawyer filed a motion to that effect.
However, it was disclosed on Wednesday, December 8 2021 during a court session in the Judge’s chamber by his lawyers that the accused had not yet undergone medical examination.
It was in light of this that the Judge presiding over the case instructed that, the accused be sent to Pantang Hospital for the examination to be carried out.
The case was then adjourned to January 5 2022.
