A committee of parliament set up to investigate Ken Ofori-Atta will begin sitting today…

Committee constituting eight Members of Parliament from both sides of the House
tasked by the Rt Hon Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin to investigate underfire Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is scheduled to start their sitting today 15th November 2022.

The Minority caucus in the legislature cited mismanagement of the economy, conflict of interest and others as the reasons they want to kick start a vote of censure against the Minister.

Alban Bagbin has tasked the committee to bring out its findings within one week. He explained that the setting up of this committee gives the Finance Minister the chance to tell his side of the issue as well.

Legislators for Bolgatanga East, Dominic Ayine and Adansi Asokwa Kwabena Tahir Hammond are to chair the committee.
Other members include Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings and Bernard Ahiafor from the Minority side, while Patrick Yaw Boamah, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi and Andrew Agyapa Mercer constitute the group from the Majority side on the committee.

Making a strong case on the floor of Parliament on why they want the Finance Minister sacked as leader of the Minority Caucus, Haruna Iddrrissu pointed out that the high inflation rate, the fast depreciation of the cedi, the uncontrolled borrowing, the reckless spending and the inability to tackle the fuel price increase show that the Finance Minister cannot deal with the situation.
