Come back to where you made the promise to apologize – Cape Coast residents to Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has incurred the wrath of the people of Cape Coast over harbour promise.
Though he apologized and accepted the fact he goofed on such a statement during his interview on Accra based-Peace FM during his Greater Accra Regional tour, the people are yet to accept his apology.
According to the people led by Cape Coast North and South Branch of the National Democratic Congress, the president’s apology will only be accepted on condition that he comes back to the region where he made the promise to apologise to them.
Until then they are feverishly waiting for the harbour and airport he promised to boost employment in the region.
Indigenes and residents of Cape Coast in the Central Region were left somewhat disappointed during on interview to commence his tour of the Central region where he denied that, he promised to build a harbour.
On Cape Coast-based Eagle FM he said “the commitment was never to build a harbour, it was to build a landing site’’ the president said, dashing their hopes.
That generated an uproar with people referencing a video of Bawumia making the statement during campaign tours which clearly contradicts the President’s position.
However, during his interview on Thursday in Accra, said “Let me just confess it. I made a mistake. Presidents are human after all, we are not supermen. We make mistakes”.
He also went ahead to defend his denial at Cape Coast saying, “I never said I was going to build a harbour in Cape Coast. I said I was going to build a landing site like what I’ve done in these six other places in the Central Region. Cape Coast will also have its landing site, and the construction of that will start next year.”
