A sigh of relief for colleges of education students as the National Council of Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana has finally decided to end its industrial action in pursuit of the non-implementation of the 2017-2018 conditions of service.

CETAG revealed that the validation of the January 2022 salaries has seen the conditions of service they requested for being implemented.

This in essence means their resumption to duty in all 46 colleges of education from January 25th 2022.

The end of the strike, notwithstanding, the council said it had noted some “disproportionate anomalies” in the payment of arrears.

“Unequivocally, the leadership of CETAG would like to express its utmost displeasure and grave concern about the manner in which the payment of the 2017-2020 CoS arrears has been implemented,” the statement noted.

“CETAG expects that the needed steps will be taken by stakeholders to remedy the situation by paying fully all unpaid arrears in February 2022 by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD),” it added.

It also said it expects the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission “to take steps to re-engage the leadership of CETAG to conclude the negotiations of the 2021 CoS before the end of February 2022.”
