Beacon of Hope donate to Tetegu flood victims

In the quest to bring some respite to victims affected by the recent Weija floods, the Beacon of Hope Foundation donated some relief items to some residents of the Tetegu community.

The project dubbed We Stand With You seeks to sensitize people on the need to extend a helping hand and awaken the conscious minds of individuals and brands on how to support communities through education and sensitization.

It is for this worthy cause that this exercise was kickstarted at the Tetegu Aggrey School park on Saturday 5th November 2022 with a health screening exercise where about 200 patrons after being screened were presented with items ranging from food, toiletries, washing detergents books and clothes.

Member of Parliament for the Weija Gbawe Constituency Tina Naa Ayele Mensah gracing the occasion seized the opportunity to appreciate the efforts of Beacon of Hope saying  “we thank Beacon of Hope and other organisations alike for this kind gesture and for heeding to the call of the community for a helping hand”.

She also advised residents to take issues regarding their health seriously. “I would urge you all not to joke with your health and also take this screening seriously in fact call your family and friends who are not yet here to also come and partake in the exercise. You people will realize that this was not how I was in recent times, I have been taking my health seriously.

“I would also like to urge other organizations that we are open to such kind donations to other parts of the communities that were also affected by the floods”.

Senior Project Coordinator of Beacon of Hope Foundation Mavis Amponsah on why the foundation decided to embark on the project said “our focus as Beacon of Hope is to assist the less privileged. We also believe that there are women here and wherever women are there are children as well. A lot of things have been lost over here so as a foundation we decided to donate to assist people.

“We believe every child should develop his or her capabilities and know how economically sound their parents are to assist them and we also are of the view that mothers should be able to take care of the children and not be heavily dependent on their husbands. And also, single mothers in such instances  find it difficult to take care of their children that is why we came in to assist them to brace through this unfortunate flooding incident.”

Beacon of Hope Foundation is a Non – Government Organisation founded in 2015 that rescues children and gives them a financially stable future through comprehensive child sponsorship and community development programs.

Their vision is to have a world where every child can develop their capabilities and maximize their potential.
