Bawumia finds his economic notes, set to address the nation today
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is set to address the nation today after a long time of silence from the scene.
He is scheduled to be the main speaker at the National Tertiary Students Confederacy Training and Orientation Conference at Kasoa in the Central Region.
The programme is under the auspices of the Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party in collaboration with the Danquah Institute, a pro-NPP policy Tink-Tank.
First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, is the Special Guest of Honour; the NPP Chairman, Freddy Blay; NPP General Secretary, John Boadu, among others will be the party’s big wigs to grace the occasion.
Government has attributed the current economic hardships in the country to a multiplicity of factors, including the Covid-19 pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which have largely contributed to the economic meltdown across the globe, and Vice President Bawumia is expected to address how these factors have impacted the Ghanaian economy, as well as measures the government has taken to address the situation.
Meanwhile, some watchers of the economic space have argued that the situation has largely been down to mismanagement and excessive borrowing among others, rather than external factors.
In recent times Ghanaians have called on the Vice President to address the nation on issues regarding the current economic challenges just as he was known for while seeking votes for the party in the elections.
