Ashanti Region’s Fire Service to use KNUST engineers in fight against deaths from fire
The Ashanti Regional Fire Command is scheduled to take education on fires in the region a notch higher in a bid to aid residents in the region know how to tackle fire incidents when they are confronted with such situations before the Fire Service moves in to perform their duty.
Recent incidents such as the death of a 74-year-old retiree of the Audit Service through fire and the death of a mother and her two children at Asuo Yeboah through fire have prompted the Fire Service in the region to act fast to avert further cases.
The Ashanti Regional Fire Commander, ACFO Henry Giwah narrating the trend the issue is taking said “we have been educating them but we will take it a notch higher as we have also identified that when they are trying to escape the fire the burglar proofs they use tend to create a problem for them hence they are unable to escape and end losing their life’s in the fire,” he said
On how they intend to address the situation ACFO Giwah said “since most of them have such burglar proofs we will contact some engineers at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology who brought up this new type of burglar-proof where you can open from inside and not outside to try and train artisans well versed in the field to rather install such burglar-proof for residents to forestall such unfortunate incidents,” he said.
