The Anglican Internal Province of Ghana has affirmed the Church’s willingness to engage in a variety of sustainable commercial initiatives in order to provide jobs for the youth and produce cash for the church’s development.

Among other things, the church plans to enter the insurance industry, real estate development, large-scale production of drinking water and soft beverages, manufacturing, and agricultural businesses.

This was revealed during a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace by a group of bishops and other members of the clergy to inform him on the Church’s Strategic Development Plan.

The team was led by the Most Reverend Dr Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith, Anglican Metropolitan Archbishop of Ghana, who expressed gratitude to the Asantehene for his various contributions to the Church.

He recalled the Asantehene’s support throughout his enthronement and the establishment of the Asante Kingdom.

The Venerable Dr George Dawson-Ahmoah, the Archbishop’s Executive Director, took the Asantehene through the Strategic Plan, citing Human Resource Development, Evangelism, Education, Health, Chaplaincy, and Mission Abroad as some of the thematic areas the church intended to improve, according to a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Tema.

The Asantehene, who is a devout Anglican, praised the church’s leadership for responding quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic’s implications.

He reaffirmed his unflinching support for the Anglican Internal Province of Ghana’s goal and urged the leadership to follow through on its “laudable proposals” for the church’s development in general and for the country’s development in particular.

Right Reverend Abraham Ackah, Diocesan Bishop of Wiawso; Rt Rev Dr Festus Yeboah Assuamah, Bishop of Sunyani; Rt Rev Alexander Kobina Asmah, Bishop of Sekondi; Rt Rev Dennis Debukari Tong, Bishop of Tamale; and Rt Rev Christian Osar Amoah, Bishop of Kumasi were among the delegation’s members.

Rt Rev Kwame Ekyem Ampomah, Bishop Coadjutor of Wiawso, and Venerable Dr David Korankye, Acting Principal, St Monica’s College of Education, Asante Mampong, made up the rest of the group.
