Alban Bagbin jets off to Dubai for a medical check-up
After some dramatic sessions in Parliament, the Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin is set to embark on a trip to the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) to check his health.
Alban Bagbin’s entourage includes his wife Mrs Alice Adjua Yornas, the Head of Parliamentary clinic Dr Prince Pambo and his Special Aide Justice Norvor.
The fax to the Head of Mission of the Ghana Embassy in UAE also reveals that: “Mr Speaker and his delegation will depart Accra on Saturday, 27th November 2021 at 18.50 hours and arrive in Dubai at 6.20 hours on flight EK788 the next day.”
This comes a day after the Speaker ruled on a motion filed by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to have a meeting with the leadership of Parliament was turned down by the Speaker prior to the Majority staging a walkout in protest. The walkout did not however prevent the House from proceeding with its work as the Speaker ruled that that “Clearly, the No’s have it. The motion is accordingly lost”.
On the other side, the Majority Caucus in Parliament has accused Speaker Mr Bagbin of “mischief” in presiding over the exercise a few moments prior to the ruling. They have since declared their intention to have the “illegality” reversed.
