President Akufo-Addo with his cabinet is scheduled to commence a three-day retreat to deliberate on the ailing economy and Ghana’s negotiation with the International Monetary Fund, today 27th October 2022.

For some time now, many stakeholders have been engaged by the president on possible ways to address the economic situation.

President Akufo-Addo expressed optimism during a meeting with the Trade Union Congress that the retreat will yield the desired results.

Calls have come from many quarters for the President to address the free fall of the cedi, high inflation, huge debt stock, unbearable cost of living, and fuel price hikes among others.

“The Economic Management Team is also meeting to appraise itself on some of the recommendations as we get closer to the end of the year. On Thursday, Cabinet itself will be meeting to receive what has gone through the EMT and updates from the IMF negotiation so that some decisions will be made and then update the country on the next step forward,” Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah had said.

The Association of Ghana Industries at a meeting in the Jubilee House assured the president of the group’s willingness to help address the economic situation.
