Akufo-Addo appoints Lariba Zuweira as Adwoa Safo’s replacement
President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Hon. Lariba Zuweira as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry.
Her appointment comes after the sector minister’s appointment was revoked by the president.
In a press release dated 2nd August 2022, the Ministry of Information stated that the “president of the republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in accordance with article 78 of the constitution has appointed the deputy minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu, the member of parliament for Walewale, as minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection. Her appointment is subject to the approval of parliament”.
Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah, MP for Kwabre is also nominated as Deputy Minister-designate.
Until their appointment, the position of the minister was held by Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, and has played that role since the then incumbent Sarah Adwoa Safo left Ghana last year.
