Kwabena Mintah Akandoh - Juaboso Constituency MP

Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Ranking Member of the Health Committee of Parliament has fired at the government over Covid-19 vaccines, stating that further investigations by the Minority Caucus have shown that the government spent another GHC109 million on vaccines without Parliamentary approval.

He said the payment, though was captured in the mid-year review budget did not appear before the health committee of the House or any other committee of Parliament.

“There’s another leg coming up because about GHC109 million has been paid and that’s got to do with covid 19 vaccines. That was captured in the mid-year review budget but it did not come to the House. I’m a ranking member of the health committee so I would have known or seen it but it is not anywhere in the House. They did not bring it to the House,” he said

This is following the heels of another controversy that involves the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu in a controversial procurement deal of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccines.

Expressing his views on the President’s reaction to the Sputnik V scandal, the NDC lawmaker said President Akufo-Addo is ridiculing Ghanaians.

“He is making a mockery of all of us. Such a serious matter that has engaged the attention of the entire nation and he is making fun of it. It’s sad that the President can do that”.

https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_A3z0fuPresident Akufo-Addo while on his tour of the Bono Region stated that one of his hardworking ministers is currently on the ‘chop board’, a reference to the backlash the Minister is receiving from Ghanaians for the deal.

“There are a lot of people from the Bono Region in my government; including the Minister of Health, who is currently receiving slaps. He is an indigene of Dormaa. He has really suffered in that Health Ministry and is still suffering,” he said.
