Notorious illegal miner Aisha Huang and her three accomplices have been refused bail by the Accra Circuit Court 9.

They have consequently been charged with mining without a valid license and also buying and selling of minerals without the requisite permission.

Meanwhile, the prosecution has also prayed to the court for more time to finish investigations on the matter.

But the defence lawyer, Nkrabea Effah Darteh in reacting to the request quizzed the prosecution on what was left to investigate again regarding the situation.

He stressed the fact that the accused person had already been remanded for two weeks asking what again was left to probe about the matter.

He then accused the Attorney General, Godfred Dame of using the Ghana Bar Conference as a decoy to push the judiciary to prosecute his client.

The defense lawyer could not fathom why a leader of the Ghanaian bar would be so prejudicial in the case.

The former legislator in explaining the reason why his client should be granted bail told the court it would avoid the public perception of the opinion that public opinion has influenced the Executive on the case.

He added that if his client is not granted bail by the court, it would be interpreted by the media as the court is influenced by the whims of President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame.

His Honour Samuel Bright Appiah, who presided over the case agreed that the issue is one of public interest both at home and abroad.

However,  the suspects were remanded back into custody by His Honor Samuel Bright Appiah and scheduled to be back in court on September 27, 2022.
