Some speculations making rounds about an incident that occurred at one of Ghana’s major entry points, the Kotoka International Airport have forced the Ghana Airports Company to confirm that there was an incident but the company has failed to specify if truly there was a bomb involved.

According to a statement from the company, on Tuesday, December 28 2021at around 9 pm they caught a glimpse of an unattended bag at the terminal 3 arrival hall.

The Base Ammunition Depot  Unit of the Ghana Armed Forces was invited to conduct an assessment on the bag and its contents.

“The bag was subsequently taken away for further investigations, the outcome of which will be made public,” the statement added.

A Video footage circulating online from the airport captured an individual in an Explosive Ordnance Disposal outfit busy working in an area that had been cordoned off.

Reports indicate that the airport was put under lockdown as passengers and staff were asked to avoid parts of the airport.

The video also captures passengers in the airport lying on the ground and at a point, a very small explosion resembling a firework is heard.

The video has since gone viral on social media.
