Ahanta West MP is not dead – Family claims rumours are politically motivated
The family of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ahanta West Constituency, has stated that Mr Ebenezer Kojo Kum is not dead.
Audio circulating on social media authored by one, Nana Mensah Kumah III of Turom, who describes himself as a senior brother to the Ahanta West MP, mentioned that the lawmaker is not dead.
“It is true my brother was critically sick, and we are still praying for him after being discharged from hospital and being treated at home but he is not dead”, a family brother revealed.
Rumours earlier last month suggest that the MP, who is also the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, was dead.
This has led many to predict an impending by-election, which analysts say “would have effect on the composition of the near-hang Eighth Parliament”.
But speaking in the local language Fante, Nana Mensah disclosed that he has been frustrated by the death rumours but insists that if the minister of state was truly dead, everyone would have known.
Nana Mensah, called for prayers for the Ahanta West MP as he confirms the MP is seriously unwell.
Nana Kumah III, who is also a former manager for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), said the MP’s rumours could be politically motivated.
