Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin is expected to give his ruling on the fate of the legislator for Dome Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Safo’s case today 25th October 2022 as Parliament commences its third meeting of the second session.

As parliament went for recess in July 2022, a ruling on whether the Dome Kwabenya seat should be declared vacant following the MP’s continuous absence from Parliament and her subsequent failure to defend herself at the Privileges Committee was deferred by the Speaker of Parliament to this session.

The legislator has already lost her role as the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection on 28th July 2022 as she was relieved of that duty by President Akufo-Addo.

Also, a report on the justices promoted to the apex court bench is expected to be presented by the Appointment Committee today.

Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is also expected to present the budget statement for the 2023 fiscal year amidst ongoing discussion for an IMF bailout.

Bills such as the Affirmative Action bill, Small Scale Mining bill and Ghana Housing Authority bill are scheduled to be laid before the house.

Bills at the committee stage like the Anti-LGBTQ bill are expected to be laid before the house also.

The house is also scheduled to receive a private members bill which was referred to the Council of State.

Papers, Petitions, Motions for Debates and Questions to be answered by sector ministers during this meeting are expected to be administered by the Speaker.
