5 dead, 12 others injured in a road crash at Nsawam
five persons have been reported dead and a dozen others injured after a road crash involving three vehicles at Nsawam on Monday.
The incident led to a heavy traffic jam on the stretch of the road which took the Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and other security and emergency response team some effort to clear the road for traffic flow.
According to the Police, the accident occurred when an articulated truck veered off the road at the Aburi Junction at Nsawam and crashed into three taxis.
Unconfirmed reports peg the number of people who died at five while the injured at 12 but the Nsawam District Police Commander Superindent Marian Osei Adu Owusu told Joynews that the dead are four while nine others are injured. The Police Superindent added that the dead have been deposited at the morgue while the injured are receiving treatment at the Nsawam Government Hospital.

The member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri who visited the scene of the accident acknowledged the presence of the security personnel to manage the situation while also noting that five people lost their lives and 12 others suffered various degrees of injuries.
He tweeted.”I was at the scene of a fatal road accident at “Nsawam Mobil”, which claimed 5 lives & left 12 people with serious injuries. I pray for the peaceful repose of the deceased & speedy recovery of the injured. Emergency services & police are also at the scene managing the situation.”
He also pleaded with the public especially the media and social media users to abstain from publishing gory images of the victims online, this he said would show respect to the dignity of the victims.
“I want to call on the media as well as social media users to honour the dignity of the deceased & injured and not share gory or bloody photos of the victims.”
