Astute Academic and Chief Executive Officer of the John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation, Professor Baffour Agyeman-Duah has blamed Africa’s political woes, on the act of copying blindly from the Europeans or Americans.

The Political Science Professor cited  Africa’s inability to think outside the box to create institutions to suit our values leading to us Africans shortchanging ourselves as we have rather created institutions that undermine our values.

He lamented that the common political situations bedevilling Africa like leaders clinging on to power and military taking over leadership of a country were both results of the political system we have created for ourselves as Africans.

He believes it is high time we adopted a system that fits us while maintaining the values of democracy.

Prof Baffour Agyeman-Duah was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of a book that talks about the life of a one-time military ruler in Ghana,  General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong which talks about his values and also clarifies some rumours making rounds during that era which were contradicting.

Ignatius Kutu Acheampong was a Military Head of State of Ghana and ruled from 13 January 1972 to 5 July 1978, before he was deposed in a coup.
