Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga Central Constituency in the Upper East Region, who has said Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who referred to as “Walewale Adams Smith” appears to have abandoned the sinking economic management ship to pursue a digitalization ship.

The Bolgatanga Central MP who drags Finance Minister Ken Ofori-economic Atta’s management prowess into question also criticized the minister for borrowing to eat kenkey and fish.

“The Vice-President has shifted gears into digitalization, leaving economic management on the shoulders of the incompetent Finance Minister”.

“Since the Vice-President jumped ship, he has turned himself into a ‘Yahoo boy’ whose only concern is how to fidget with the internet in the name of digitalisation”.

Mr. Adongo speaking on the debt levels of Ghana as published by Bloomberg and the recent downgrade of Ghan from B to B negative by Fitch on an Accra-based Accra FM on Wednesday, January 19, 2020, also argued that Ghana’s economy is on the verge of collapse, and can no longer access foreign borrowing markets.

He said “the era of borrowing only to come and eat kenkey and fish like the Finance Minister has been doing since he assumed office in 2017 is over.

“I’m surprised the president is still keeping Mr Ken Ofori-Atta at post even in the wake of glaring evidence that the economy is not in good shape”.

“With the penchant for spending as a private person and a public officer, in other jurisdictions, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta would not have come near the position of a deputy minister,” he stated.

According to the Bolga Central legislator who doubles as a member of the finance committee in parliament, Bloomberg’s comments about the country’s debt levels were made a year ago. Bloomberg is only confirming the issues he raised a year ago but government communicators rained all manner of insults on me as the Member of Parliament for the people of Bolgatanga Central”.

He added “that the contentious E-levy will not be able to save Ghana’s economy if GHS20 billion could not help the situation, what can GHS9 billion do?.

“The situation can only be averted if the president reduces his wasteful spending on unnecessary items such as his creature comforts,” he concluded.
