The Education Committee in Parliament has waded into the issue of perennial leakages of examination papers that has characterized the West African Examination Council (WAEC) recent examinations.

Ranking Member of the Education Committee, Hon Peter Nortsu Kotoe expressed worry at the situation as they had previously contacted WAEC over the situation and the examination body assured them that they are investigating the situation to curb future occurrences. That seems not to have been properly dealt with by the examination body as this year’s examination is still recording the same instances where WAEC had to even reschedule the physics and Business Management papers due to intelligence of intended cheating it had picked up.

Hon Peter Notsu Kotoe is worried that it tarnishes the credibility of WAEC as a body and says the integrity of the certificate they give out has to be protected.

He thus wants that when Parliament resumes, the examination body and the Ministry of Education be put before Education Committee to explain why the recurrent instances of leakages and best responses those responsible are implementing to address the situation.
