Suspects in Nima shooting plead not guilty in court

The seven Nima violence suspects who were apprehended by the police in connection with the Nima-Maamobi clash have pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them.

As a result, they were remanded in jail by the Circuit Court on Friday, January 21, 2022

Abdul Gafaru Mahama (A3), Atarouwa Bassam (A6), Abdul Mumuni Gariba (A7), Mohammed Saabi Barinu alias Namer (A8), Bashiru Ganiru (A9), Illiasu Salim (A10), and Issa Seidu (A10) are the seven accused (A11).

It will be recalled that the Police had arrested seven suspects in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Nima, a suburb of Accra.

Two of the seven were under security protection, according to ACP Kwesi Ofori, Acting Director-General of the Ghana Police Service’s Public Affairs Department.

“Nima, a suburb of Accra witnessed gangsterism and mass violence around 3:30 pm and the police quickly and immediately intervened”, ACP Kwesi Ofori told pressmen.

Meanwhile, one of the victims of the shooting is reported to be recovering well at the 37 Military Hospital.
