Police arrest one more suspect linked to Nima-Maamobi clash
The Police in collaboration with the National Investigation Bureau (NIB), on Sunday, January 23, 2022, arrested suspect Farouk Dauda alias Omondi, aged 31 years, who was part of the rioters during the Maamobi-Nima clash.
Suspect Farouk Dauda was arrested at his hideout in a suburb of Accra based on intelligence, the police said in a statement on Monday, January 24, 2022. He had been in hiding since the incident on January 18, 2022.
During questioning, he confirmed his role in the alleged conflict, in which he was captured on tape carrying a machete and identifying himself in the video clip.
According to the police, a search on the suspect resulted in the discovery of a wrapped item that was assumed to be Indian hemp. He is currently detained by the police and is assisting them with their investigations.
Meanwhile, attempts are underway to apprehend all other suspects in the violent incident.
