On Wednesday 12 April 2021, 61-year-old Charles Kwakye Agyako was murdered at Amanful, a suburb of Takoradi in the Western Region by robbers on a motorbike after withdrawing money from a bank.

The police indicated that an operation to arrest suspects was organized and  conducted by a team of officers from the Western Regional Criminal Investigations Department, together with SWAT officers from the Accra Regional Command.

The suspects were nabbed at Elmina in the Central Region. The police further revealed that in their bid to arrest the suspects, a gun battle ensued and in the process, one of the suspects who was identified as Shakki was shot dead whilst two others fled.

A hideout was later located and a search was conducted. The body of the robber has however been conveyed to the Police Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Western Regional Police Command still maintains the  GHS10,000 bounty to anyone who volunteers information that would lead to the arrest of the other suspects.
