Kaaka’s family pleads with Chief Imama to help establish a memorial fund for slain activist

Slain social activist who was murdered in Ejura, Ibrahim Anyass Ahmed alias Macho Kaaka’s family want a memorial fund to be established in his name.

The family expressed its interest by petitioning the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu in order to support the Muslim community.

These were part of the reliefs being sought after by the activist family when they called on the National Chief Imam to use his good office to call for justice for Kaaka and people who became victims of violence after Kaaka’s unfortunate demise.

This also follows an initial call on Chief Imam where the family was instructed to present it in a formal written document to the Chief Imam’s office which they have now done.

The petition presented chronicled events that led to Kaakas demise and things that happened afterwards. Top among the family concern was to fulfil Kaaka’s dream of establishing a fund to help people in the Muslim community to train as journalists and tell their narratives.

Their plea was also to press for justice for the people of Ejura and for the 3-man Commission of Inquiry to also release their report.

A plea for the establishment of Ejura Victims Fund to help victims of the Ejura shootings and a community development fund to solve social problems that Kaaka stood for.
