Captain Smart has stated that he is a proud member of Ghana’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and that he is not opposed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo or the party.

According to him, he is opposed to the policies and the manner in which the administration manages the country’s affairs.

On TV3’s New Day show on Friday, February 4, the presenter told his Media General colleague Johnnie Hughes that he supports policies like the Free Senior High School (Free SHS), which he believes is the administration’s best policy.

He does, however, hope that one day the President will be able to attend the same hospitals as the general public.

Also, he wants the Ministers of Education and Energy, Yaw Osei Adutwum and Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, to enrol their children in any of the public schools as a symbol of addressing the problems in the public schools.

While narrating his ordeal and encounter in police custody following his arrest and detention on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, he said “I am not against Nana Addo and NPP, but I am against their policies”.

It will be recalled that on Thursday, February 3, 2022, the Onua TV/FM morning show anchor was released on bail after meeting all of the bail requirements at the Accra Circuit Court 8 to gain his release from police custody.
