The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development has given assembly members in the Eastern Region 1,248 motorcycles.

As part of efforts to assist the various assemblies to execute their mandate effectively, the government has been giving out motorcycles to the assemblies across the country. The motorcycles are intended to make local administration more effective and accessible. Other regions including the Bono East region have already received their share of the motorcycles as far back as August 2021.

The motorbikes, which were provided by JSA Logistics Ghana Limited, would also help the Eastern Region’s 33 municipal and district assemblies (MDAs) function more efficiently.

Michael Ahwireng, the Eastern Region’s Dean of Presiding Members, who received the motorcycles on behalf of MDA members, thanked the government and vowed to put them to good use in rural development initiatives.

Seth Kwame Acheampong, the regional minister who received the motorcycles on behalf of the Local Government Ministry, also urged riders to ride safely.
