Ghana's Presidential jet

The argument as to whether Ghana needs to acquire a new presidential jet rages on as both the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party have waded into the discussion, taking their positions either in support or against the idea.

But aviation analyst, Captain Yao Foli during a discussion on Accra-based TV3 was of the view that, since the presidential jet according to sources is serviceable and even transports other heads of states within the sub-region and successfully makes trips to Europe it is not sound at the moment for the government to nurse the desire to acquire a new jet.

NDC Members of Parliament have taken their stance on the issue and are kicking against the idea. Legislator for North Tongu has continuously stated that there is currently nothing wrong with the presidential jet.

He constantly has been on the neck of the government stating that they have not been transparent and accountable enough with regards to the presidential jet issue and has attributed it to its [government] insatiable appetite for luxury.

Though Hon Ablakwa wants to question the government on this venture in parliament his challenge is now the fact that parliament is on recess.

Per information coming from the Director of Communications at the presidency Mr Eugene Arhin, Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has commenced the process for Ghana to acquire a new jet. Ghanaians on the other hand lie in wait for the outcome of this issue.
