Ghana Army launches ‘Operation Boafo’ to help NADMO with rescue operations in Accra

Following the continuous downpour and flooding in Accra, the Ghana Army has started “Operation BOAFO”, a search and rescue operation to assist the National Disaster Management Organisation( NADMO).

A news report carried on an Accra-based Citi FM’s social media page on June 16, 2022, stated that “in line with the operation, the 48 Engineer Regiment of the Ghana Army set out to various flood-prone communities in the city to rescue people, especially women and children including the elderly who may have been in danger as a result of the floods”.

“Areas of the operation included Osu, Accra central, Kaneshie, Nungua Barrier, Circle, Odokor among other areas.”

Meanwhile, the Ghana Army wants the general public to know that it is committed to protecting lives and property.

Earlier, a weather forecast report according to the Ghana meteorological agency indicated that there are 40% chances of rainfall in Accra.
