Extension of GES deputy director’s contract causing tension among staff

Anthony Boateng - Deputy Director of GES

The decision to extend the contract of the Deputy Director General of the Ghana Education Service has not gone down well with the staff of the service, President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT Mr Angel Carbonu has disclosed.

Mr Carbonu revealed that the contract extension has demotivated the staff of the service.

He pointed out that though the Education Minister requested for the extension of Mr Anthony Boateng’s contract, that was supposed to be done by the GES Council and not the Minister.

The NAGRAT boss advised the service to go by the retirement laws of the country in Article 199 of the constitution which pegs the age of retirement at 60 years from the main office straight down to its regional directors to avoid agitations within the service.
