Sarkodie order to appear in court tomorrow over Kantanka Automobile failed Twitter promise
Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has been ordered to appear before an Accra High Court to testify about a failed promotion.
On June 13, 2022, the rapper, born Michael Owusu Addo, was supposed to appear in court to provide an account between Jude Osei and Kantanka Automobile, but he did not show up.
Kantanka Automobile and Kwadwo Safo Jnr have been sued for a failed social media promise made on Twitter under the handle Kantanka daily.
Plaintiff Jude Osei alleged on May 14, 2019, that he got a message on a Kantanka Automobile private message urging him to share an image of a Kantaka Automobile car on Twitter and that if he could get 30,000 retweets, he would be awarded a Kantanka Mensa car.
However, after the required quantity was reached, the corporation failed to keep its word. Jude Osei told Tony Best on Akoma FM’s Entertainment 360 that the rapper must come before the Accra High Court on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, to testify or a bench warrant will be issued.
“Sarkodie was previously subpoenaed by my lawyer on the 13th of June 2022 but failed to honour the court’s invitation. Another invitation has been sent to him to appear before the Court on the 21st June 2022.”
The plaintiff stated that if he fails to appear for the second time, “It is up to the court to decide the next line of action and most likely there will be a court warrant for his arrest”.
It is however unclear how Sarkodie is connected to the social media promotion promise by Kantanka Automobile, nonetheless, when he appears before the court tomorrow, details will be known.
