Late Ebony Reigns Driver Arrested

Issues surrounding the death of Ebony Reigns seem to take grounds once again. Okoh Pinehas Chartey, her driver has been remanded into prison custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court.

It is three years since the death of Ebony, Franklina Maame Yaa Nkansah, and Lance Corporal Vondee Atsu Francis passed on to eternity in an accident that occurred on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway.

The sad incident that took the lives the three brought tears to many faces and still saddens many.

Following the accident which occurred on the 8th of February, 2018, the driver denied all allegations and accusations that he was responsible for the accident.  According to reports, he was even driving with an expired license and was involved in dangerous driving as well. 

After conscious effort to escape the punishment, he had to finally give in to authority because all evidence from the investigations pointed at him. He has thus been remanded in prison custody. He is expected to reappear before the court presided by Mr. Johnson Abbey on March 24, 2021.

Police Chief Inspector, Jonas Newlove Agyei according to the investigations conducted revealed that the driver, Okoh was trying to dodge a heap of sand by the road which was the main cause of the accident.

Fortunately for him, he only sustained some injuries and was rushed to the  Bechem Government Hospital for further treatment however, Franklina, Ebony Reigns, and Lance Corporal Vondee couldn’t survive it. 

Chief Inspector Agyei also revealed that  Okoh’s driving license had expired on August 28, 2015, before the accident, according to their investigations.

He added that the driver was charged and brought before the court following advice from the Attorney General’s Office.
