Black Sherif earns BET Hip Hop Awards nomination

Black Sherif has been rewarded for his hard work in the last year with a nomination at the 2022 Black Entertainment Television awards.

Known in private life as Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, the 20-year-old Konongo-born musician has been nominated in the Best International Flow category for the awards.

He will have to beat competitions from eight other nominees across the world including South Africa’s Blxckie and Nadia Nakai of Zimbabwe. Other nominees in the category are Benjamin Epps of France, UK’s duo of Central Cee and Knucks, Haviah Mighty from Canada, Tasha & Tracie from Brazil and another French star Le Juiice.

Drake is the most nominated musician this year with 14 nods with second place going to Kanye West with 10 nods and Kendrick Lamar taking third place with nine nominations. Future got eight nominations with Cardi B, J. Cole and Baby Keem each garnering six nominations.

Nigerian singer Tems has also featured prominently for her role in Future’s “Wait for You” which also has Drake on it. Wait for You has been nominated in multiple categories including Best Hip Hop Video, Best Collaboration, Song of the Year and Sweet 16: Best Verse.
