We will fulfil our promise and build the Cape Coast airport and harbour – Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has told the people of Cape Coast that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government will fulfil its pledge to construct the much-anticipated airport for the Central Region.
The President stated that the party’s commitment to creating an airport and a harbour for the people of Cape Coast was not made on a whim, but rather on the basis of a detailed plan that was on track.
According to the President, feasibility studies are being conducted to find a suitable site for the project so that the building can begin in earnest to increase economic activity.
When President Akufu-Addo paid a courtesy call on the Oguaamanhen, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, and his Council at the Emintsimadze Palace in Cape Coast, he provided the promise.
The President also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people of the Central Region for their trust in him ahead of the 2020 general election and pledged the party’s commitment to reclaim all lost Parliamentary seats in the region, notably the Cape Coast North and South seats.
He responded to Osabarima Kwesi Atta’s request for an airport, a new hospital, and the revival of the Ameen Sangari Factory by saying that the One District One Factory (1D1F) Secretariat was working to ensure the revival of the Central Region’s oldest manufacturing company in order to create jobs.
According to the factory’s management, around $3.8 million in funding was required to renovate the facility.
President Akufo-Addo stated that the Secretariat was far along in talks with a major financial institution in Ghana to resurrect the factory.
He emphasized that the flagship One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) program is not just rhetoric, but a reality that will industrialize Ghana by establishing more industries and creating more job possibilities.
The 1D1F is a significant component of the government’s industrial transformation strategy, which was launched as part of a comprehensive plan for rapid growth and industrial development.
It intends to support a huge private-sector-led statewide industrialization effort that will equip and empower communities to use local resources to produce high-demand products for both domestic and international markets.
Osabarima Kwesi Atta congratulated the President on his visit and praised him for his commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians.
His perseverance in handling the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as expanding access to treatment, was lauded by him.
