Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Papa Owusu-Ankomah, has urged the Diaspora to continue to invest in Africa, particularly Ghana, in order to build their economy.

He argued that Ghana was well-positioned to offer commercial access and convenience to any diaspora investor interested in investing in the country.

Papa Owusu-Ankomah, who is also the High Commissioner to Ireland, was addressing the participants at the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre’s virtual maiden Ghana Diaspora Investment Meeting-UK 2021.

The meeting which was on the theme: “Increasing Diaspora Direct Investment to Ghana: Exploring Opportunities, Navigating Hurdles”,  was held on the sidelines of the Africa Financial Services Investment Conference – Investing in Africa Conference, at the Waldorf Hilton in London.

As cited by the Ghana News agency, the High Commissioner stated that Africa-Diaspora investment was critical to the continent’s development, emphasizing the importance of such experiences and abilities in advancing the agenda.

“Diasporas are welcomed to join in the contribution to foster and sustain African’s integration,” he added.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), according to Papa Owusu-Ankomah, is “building a whole narrative for the Diasporas to work with their African business partners, with Ghana as the entrance.”

“It appears that on all fronts Ghana stands as an attractive and preferred investment destination in Africa,” he said.
